Our executive chairman, Dr Morley Nkosi, holds a PhD in Economics, coupled with extensive business experience in Africa, the United States of America and the United Kingdom.
Relevant experience in economic policy, development and transport includes the executive chairmanship at MAN Ferrostaal Southern Africa and board chairmanship of the National Institute for Economic Policy. He served on the boards of Bidvest Group, Investec Group, Anglovaal Mining Limited, Harmony Gold Mining Company, among others.
His current positions are:
- Executive Director responsible for Business Development at Global Railway Africa (Pty) Ltd. (since 2008) and
- Managing associate in Morley Nkosi Associates, management and development consultants (since 1995).
Dr Nkosi has published extensively on transnational corporations, the South African economy and regional economic integration in Southern Africa.
Anand Moodliar, group chief executive of the Barberry Group for the past 12 years, has extensive immediate past experience in rail logistics.
He held the position of general manager of the Transnet Freight Rail (TFR) national operations centre and was also head of Barloworld Logistics Rail.
Relevant functional expertise includes project management, process improvements, operations management and production support.
The Barberry Group is focused on rail siding and logistics management for several mines, and is under contract to deliver more than 6 million tons of commodities to various ports and local destinations every year.
Ike Cha’s academic background includes a B.Sc Industrial Psychology degree from the University of Cape Town and a MBA (Strategy) from the UK’s Thames Valley University.
Relevant past experience involved a three-year stint with Procter & Gamble in South Africa and eight years with The Coca-Cola Company across ten countries in Southern and East Africa.
An entrepreneur of eleven years’ standing, Cha is heavily invested in property in Johannesburg’s CBD and has successfully started businesses in cellular telecommunications, logistics, FMCG and property.
Our managing director Follie van Zyl has extensive experience of rail management and logistics.
Our business development executive, Ash Ganasen, is the group chief financial officer of a key stakeholder, the Barberry Group, of which he was managing director and co-founder until 2007.
He has more than 15 years’ experience in rail management related to the conceptualising, design and implementation of rail supply solutions in Southern Africa. Some of his recent projects involved the export of an 80 000 ton test parcel of magnetite from Phalaborwa to Maputo and several coal projects for a variety of customers.
Ganasen’s relevant expertise includes:
- Rail supply chain design in the SADC region
- Rail-road infrastructure design
- Construction oversight and project management
- Project cost modelling
